Five Things To Know Before Choosing an Event Photographer

The only thing more important than your special event is the ability to look back on memories of that day anytime you want. That’s why Tasty Table Catering wants you to understand that choosing the right photographer for you is important.

1. Look at their portfolio

Meeting with a photographer ahead of time will allow clarity for both the customer and photographer. By meeting ahead of time, you are able to tell them what you expect on your special day. In this meeting make sure you determine budget, post production and delivery, and ask for references.

2. Ask questions

Meeting with a photographer ahead of time will allow clarity for both the customer and photographer. By meeting ahead of time, you are able to tell them what you expect on your special day. In this meeting make sure you determine budget, post production and delivery, and ask for references.

3. Ask more questions

Are they insured? Insurance is something to keep in mind for issues such as equipment damage and guests tripping on cords. What is the photographer’s background and credentials? Some photographers are self taught, while others majored in Photography in college. Be sure to also ask what is the delivery timeline. Lastly, make sure you ask them if they have a backup photographer and backup equipment in case something goes awry.
4. Make sure that they are familiar with the venue (or that they become familiar with it)

There’s nothing worse than bad lighting and that can result from the photographer not bringing the necessary equipment. If the photographer doesn’t know the venue, they might not know what equipment is necessary. Vice versa, if you find a photographer that is extremely familiar with the venue, they will know the best places to shoot photos.

5. Determine a clear budget

Allot 12% of your budget to the photographer. Book early and give your photographer referrals in order to save money. Another way to save money is to search for a photographer on Instagram. On Instagram, you can find extremely talented photographers that are trying to make a name for themselves and therefore would not ask as much money as a traditional photographer.

Choosing a photographer is a big deal and hopefully after reading this article you are less stressed about how to determine which photographer is right for you.
